Overview
"He is a master of theater as much as a maker of dancea man with a seamless feel for the way gesture, music, and stage design can coalesce in the art of storytelling and character development." That's how the Chicago Sun-Times described the great Russian choreographer Boris Eifman, a man whose stunning work blazes with complexity and invention. Now celebrating its 35th season, Eifman's company returns with the Bay Area premiere of Rodin, a full-length ballet depicting the life of the French sculptor Auguste Rodin and his mistress and muse, Camille Claudel. "An incredible love story about a meeting of minds, as well as a tragic portrayal of artistic jealousy and selfish passion" (St. Petersburg Times), Rodin premiered to great critical acclaim last November in St. Petersburg.
